Looking into the Studio…

We bought our “Forever Home” in Oct of 2017 on a golf course in Elizabethtown, KY.  My creative place is just now taking shape as I’m unpacking boxes still.  It’s been a long journey to get here and will take several more months ahead to unpack and organize my craft space.  I will also be listing items for sale as I unpack my studio.  If you want to see what I’m selling please follow The Vintage Mint on Facebook, I will be listing items on the page as I go through boxes.

I’m excited to get everything in it’s spot so I can create!  I do a little of everything, that’s why I just say the Jack of all trades.  I think knitting is the only craft I haven’t tried yet.

Below is the links to find me on Social Media, join in the fun and the fails. <– because there will be fails. So lets laugh together and create together.

Have Fun and don’t forget to Follow me!

Cheers, Wendy

Valentine’s Planner Layout

Using Hobby Lobby sticker sheet and coordinating washi tapes and MAMBI (Me and My Big Ideas) Big planner stickers.

When I saw these stickers at Hobby Lobby I didn’t buy them the first four times, because I really didn’t think I could use them with the BIG Happy Planner.  The size seemed to suggest it would be perfect for the mini planner.  The more I thought about that sheet of stickers the more I knew I wanted to FIT it into my Valentines week planner pages.  I finally broke down and bought them, and I’m so glad I did.  The layout is even better than what I imagined.  So I combined my Hobby Lobby themed stickers with my BIG MAMBI stickers to finish this layout.  As always I used 2 of my favorite matching washi tape a 12mm wide and a 10mm wide for the bottom boarder and the sides. Then I dove in with 4 matching colors of the 5mm wide washi tapes.  Over all I’m extremely please with how well it turned out.  Shows you how you can use those happy planner mini stickers or classic stickers in the Big planner style.

P.S. I made the Account Balance stickers, because I combined my Budget planner with my daily Happy Planner.  I wasn’t pleased this week with the Account Balance stickers so I will revert back to my just 4 slots and one being total spending for that day.  (Apparently I shouldn’t see my balances or I will SPEND them, LOL)

Cheers, Wendy

Making the Stuck on You Board

Supply List

  • Cricut Machine
  • Cricut weeding tools & scraper
  • brown vinyl
  • mod podge matte
  • foam sponge or paint brush
  • downloaded and installed the font “i love glitter” from http://www.Dafont.com
  • Painters tape or Transfer Tape (NOT THE CRICUT STRONG GRIP)
  • Wooden Board with Cactus on it from Michaels Crafts (don’t forget to use your coupon when you buy it)

First

You want to put a light coat of mod podge matte finish on your board. Let dry for 30 minutes maybe more depending on where you live. (You will see in the 5th step why I say add a coat of Mod Podge FIRST. I didn’t and it pealed some of the paint off the picture between the S and the T in the word stuck.)

Second

Create your design in Cricut Design space. I used the font from cricut “Country Life” and a free font from http://www.dafont.com called “i love glitter”.

Third

If you really want to see how it’s going to look snap a phone and upload it into cricut as a IMAGE then select image type as COMPLEX. Then just click continue now click on the PRINT setting one and NOT the cut one.  Then click SAVE and insert image.  Then just play around with different fonts to see what you like best and pick one.

Which ONE looks best for the title_

Fourth

Time to cut! Set your machine to vinyl setting. Measure and make sure you have everything positioned correctly and grouped. If you do NOT group it will will not cut out correctly. Then apply your transfer tape or painters tape. Apply that to your board. Measure and CENTER!

Fifth

After all your vinyl is down, add your Mod Podge- remember a light coat will do it.

Imagination….

Michaels had more wooden and glass objects, so you don’t have to do the Cactus board. Just browse the isle and take time to look at items. Here are some other items I saw that you could work with…

PS.. My favorite might be the bunny butt…. LOL

Stuck on you…

Finally Finished Lily and Mikeys wall hanging. She loves it so thumbs up!!!
I bought the cactus wall hanging at Michaels Crafts. Then I used my Cricut machine to cut STUCK ON YOU and Mikey & Lily out in brown vinyl. Used blue painters tape to stick it down, which the first one STUCK ON YOU pulled up some paint from the wood between the S and T. So I did a quick coat of matte finish Mod Podge. It dried fully in less than 30 minutes and I cut out the mikey and lily and added it to the bottom super easy. Then I did another coat of Mod Podge over mikey and lily only and let that dry. 🙂
